Uley Primary School
Uley Primary School is a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school - please visit their website to find out more.
Links between the Church and Uley Primary School are very strong. Revd Canon Michael Cozens (Ex-officio Foundation Governor) and Susan Staniforth (Foundation Governor) continue to build positive relationships with the staff, children and other governors through assemblies and at Governor meetings. The recent Diocesan Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools awarded Uley an ‘Outstanding’ Report. The head teacher Zoe Mandeville is very supportive of our continuing work with Holiday clubs, Experience Easter and Experience Christmas and is enthusiastic about linking up more with church.
Every term a service is held in St Giles church where parents are warmly invited to attend. The close links are extended into school with a weekly service by the minister.
‘Open the Book’ School Assemblies - Liz Rymer, Lorna Tutton and Angela Pendlebury visit the school on a regular weekly basis to take an ‘Open the Book’ assembly. ‘Open the Book’ is a national project which offers primary school children an opportunity to hear all the major stories of the Bible, presented chronologically or thematically, over a period of three years. Each assembly has an introduction, a story, a thought and a prayer. The children are involved in telling the story, with simple dramatisation and costumes.
